Hurricane Helene Update
Hurricane Helene Update – Friday, September 27 at 10:09 a.m. ET
Dear Residents and Family Members,
Hurricane Helene has passed by our area. I am very proud to say that as a community, we fared very well.
We are in the process of cleaning up landscaping and other debris today.
Most importantly, there were no injuries to residents or staff to report, of which I am most thankful.
I want to say a huge “thank you” to our associates for their commitment to our residents and the operation of our community. It is evident that our residents are the top priority for our staff, and we are so grateful to be able to serve each of you daily.
We have resumed normal operations in all our departments and health centers as of Friday, September 27th.
Thank you all for your patience and cooperation as we operated through this emergency. We are thankful to have you as a part of our community.

Tropical Storm Helene Update – Wednesday, September 25 at 10:48 a.m. ET
A Message from the Executive Director
Dear Residents, Family Members and Community Members,
The health and safety of our residents and employees are always our first priority. As The Villages area prepares for the possibility of impact from Hurricane Helene, the team members at Freedom Pointe are making necessary preparations for their safety.
Freedom Pointe is a shelter-in-place community and we historically have never flooded. Some of our team members are prepared to shelter-in-place along with the residents at the community.
Following are some of the preparations we have made:
Removed and/or tied down all loose items;
- Stocked with sufficient levels of food, linens, water, operating supplies, and medications as needed;
- Ensured our generators are operational and that we have sufficient fuel;
- Fueled vehicles to maximum capacity;
- Prepared staff schedules to ensure we have adequate coverage.
We will be communicating with our residents via our mass communication phone system and through email updates. Please call the front desk at 352-750-1355 if you would like information regarding our current situation and status.
Further updates will be posted as they become available.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Ralph Fera-McIlwain
